We look forward to holding a special memorial service to honour Val's legacy soon.

Val shared her life lessons in her memoir, Care Enough:

There is nothing more dangerous than fear itself
Girls are intellectual equals
The media can be a powerful ally in seeking social reform
Make the most of the gifts you were born with
The most effective way of dealing with a problem that needs changing is to work on the big canvas
Hands up help people to get ahead, hand-outs don't
No experience in life is a waste unless you fail to learn from it
Life's not always fair
Acquire a 'butter wouldn't melt in your mouth' smile
Needs don't have labels
Always, always ask 'the people'
Positive psychology pays
Who you know really does count
Arrive with an open mind
Speak as one. Hear the roar.
